I just put a bandpass in the back of mine lol It houses 2 12" Kenwoods 1200W max (400RMS) behind plexiglass. Then bought a class D mono AMP 500RMS the wiring is cake because everything is in the back in the X5.
I just tapped into the Radio module wires and used a HIGH/LO converter grabbed the power for the remote wire to the converter from the module as well.
Everything is neatly tucked away including the amp as I fastened all the wires to the factory harnesses and then anchored the speaker wires along the well where the spare tire is. The speaker wires for the bandpass come out the black cap in the cargo bay and right into the bandpass.
Very clean install and very easy to do for the amount of money these places are charging you can get much more "bang" or "Boom" in this case for the buck DIY lol

It hits real hard lol It will make the hair on your head dance. For the money I spent can't really beat the sound I'm getting, especially since I did the install myself.

I had done something similar and I love the sound now... It is not the most performance sound but I can get the low frequencies and I can feel it in my stomach...lol
What I did is the following:
- 1 MBQuart RLP254 10" subwoofer that is made for sealed enclosures and requires only 2.95" in depth. I followed some of the posts but is very simple to explain. Took the original box out, dismount the original speakers then I cut the front cover all around to the same level then I cut a piece of 3/4" MDF to match the shape of the front of the box. Used some epoxy to seal it also some hot glue on the outside and filled the imperfections. Cut the hole for the speaker in the mdf, mount the speaker and run new wires to the left side by amps.
-1 AMP Alpine MRV-M500 installed on a small piece of MDF cut to fit instead of the OE CD changer ( I use the DICE Mediabridge instead of CD changer). The amp has Hi-Level inputs and I just got that of the original DSP/amp connector.
Everything else is intact and I'm ok with it cause I have the NAV with DSP

I am in process of doing exact same with factory ABS sub box and MB Quart DS1-254 (which I just realized stands for 25.4cm = 10").
Wonder how it will sound. I'm excited as it could give me my full trunk space back IF it sounds somewhat as good as my current external sub box with cheap Kenwood sub (which has actually classes me 17 years now and I'm not sure how as I try to break it so I can install my Pioneer Premier Competition sub, but still no dice)

I'm excited to get this project done to see if it's worth it or should I just but the Basser brand X5 sub box from Poland... Reusing a factory sub box is a reallllly cheap option for me first tho.
