Bump Stops when lowering

I've read some info on other forums (not x5 E53 related) and it is suggested to shave the bump stops when lowering.

I picked up some B&G springs for about $160 and figured they might go well with new Bilstein B4 struts and complete front end suspension refresh. Everything on the strut will be new, OEM from bottom spring seat to top of.

Question is, I can not find any information concerning bump stops and the possibility of shaving them to keep them from bottoming out quickly on a slightly lower setup or if they will on the E53 setup.

A lot of helpful threads on struts but nothing on the bump stops.

What's the drop on those springs? Even with a 1.5" drop you should have plenty of room for travel.

B&G says 1.5" drop. What it will actually be with B4's, no clue. Internet searches can cause paranoia. I figured on M3's and such, the travel isn't as long as an X5. On those models, stops should be shorter with a lower ride.

I bought febi stops which are longer than the stops included in the dustboot kit. Those are about 1/2" shorter than the febi.

I'm hoping not too low but if it all works out, the wife will enjoy taking the corners faster to the grocery store. She has no clue what its about to transform into.

It's not an MK4 Volkswagen LOL!

You should be fine with the febi bump stops you bought but I wouldn't go out of my way to shave them down.
