looking to install after market navigation

Hey guys, I've been doing a little bit of research on installing an aftermarket screen/navigation. I only want the 7" screens units that looks oem. I currently have the business CD style in my 2004 x5 with no dsp. According to my research a lot of those units should be plug and play. There's a lot of the Chinese ones on eBay ranging from $300 to a $1000. The average being about $450 for a unit.

I honestly think they're all the same probably made in the same place, just different software. The most expensive seems to be the dynavin and Hualingan. I guess the dynavin have better support generally and they're in the states with a longer warranty.

Few questions. Have any of you guys installed any of them with MY CURRENT SETUP? How had it been working?
I've looked at some installation videos but haven't seen one that shows how you take out/cut the original bracket. How did you do that part?
I am also interested in installing a backup camera which most of those units support, how did you route the wire to the back?

All feedback would be appreciated, thanks

Do a search, there are several old threads and several recent threads within the last two months, no need to start another one, good luck.

I've been doing some research, and went throughout a long thread by muss about his enon system. I just haven't found people to have actual reviews of other units, and the help I need with removing the old spilt bracket.

Just search for Hualingan, Dynavin or navigation, lots of info for you to read. You have to cut the bracket out, so once you cut it out there's no going back, I had to cut mine to install my Hualingan unit.

I still have stock unit. I decided to upgrade speakers and sub and add Audiovox mediabridge with satellite radio option to have all the latest features.

Here is a thread that discusses replacement: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...nav-radio.html
