ccv failure and hydrolocked engine don`t give up
hi all I just want to let you know my 3.0i engine had the dreaded ccv fail and hydro locked my engine twice this winter back in mar (fig engine was toast) , well I won`t lie I gave up on the x5 and jumped the gun and picked up a 2011 ford escape v6 (nice simple vehicle) its alright but nothing compared to a luxory vehicle. Long story short I decided to start the x5 in warm weather 12c ,ran rough for a while and throwing miss fire codes in all 6 cyl. which was exspected ,being oil still in the cylinders , but did eventually run smooth and still does, smoked for awhile ,could only drive at night http://s1.bimmerfest.com/forums/imag...ile3453453.gif now its not smoking at all and no error codes .so I have decided to keep the x5 and install the cold climate ccv kit this summer. I didn`t take it to my bmw mechanic (I called them and they said I will need a new engine at that point I did give up) so I just turnned the engine over a few times to get rid of all the oil in the cyl took 2 trys but it worked and didn`t cost me anything.
now I have the x5 and my wife has the ford and 2003 tiburon.
anyways don`t give up if your engine hydro locks there is hope.
