most common rear suspension wear

my x5 is at 150,000kms now

rear left tire wears on the inside like no tomorrow but the right side wears evenly

what is the most common wear item at the rear?

I have changed all my front suspension components, both tie rods inner and outer, both thrust arm poly bushings, both knuckle ball joint, both control arm, both sway bar links, both cv shafts and both diff seals
no complaints up front

If you're at 150k, and have already done the complete front, I would just go ahead and finish off the rear. Do an alignment once and be done with it for the next couple years.

True that

Yup, at 150t you might want to have a look at your rear subframe bushings as well.

Wear on the inside is negative camber and/or toe and on mine the gradual increase in negative camber was caused by the upper wishbone's bushing. That and the upper locating link are the first to wear out in my tech's opinion. Upper locating link determines toe

When I replaced the upper wishbone assy, it's bushing was obviously compressed and probably causing the increase in negative camber.

Lower ball joint is a common issue. Won't notice the play until you release the tension off the arms, etc by deflating airbag or removing spring.

Camber doesn't tend to scrub the insides while leaving the rest of the tyre ok. Usually it's toe that does that.

Wear items are split into upper and lower.

Upper = guide link and wishbones (approx 300 for 4 parts)

Lower = ball joint and integral link (approx 160 for 4 parts)

So unless you are getting successive alignments or are 100 percent certain only one area is wearing you could probably do all the parts in the rear, align it, and not have to worry for a couple years.

Hmm, I should've included the lower ball joint and link when I did the upper links and wishbones...but since they were ok on inspection and parts costs were piling up (I did the trans fluid change and rear wheel bearings at the same time), I held off.

I put the stock wheels back on so my new tires dont get any more damaged and they need a replastidipping and roadforce balancing so i removed the wheel weights and cleaned the barrels to a spotless shine,

inspected the rear bushings and ball joints, no play

The adjustments are not maxxed out

I will b drivin my motorcycle untill i get an alignment appointment

You have to let the air out of the rear air-bags or put a jack under the air spring to take the pre-load off the suspension when checking for wear.

Trust me at 150k you have worn suspension parts in the rear, everything will be tight when you jiggle the wheel because of the air spring unless you do one of the two things I mentioned above.

As well, you should have about .01 toe, even "toe in spec" will cause wear on the insides of the tires as most have found out here, the camber does not cause the inner wear.

I tryed getting a jack under the bag mount but i couldnt get it

Using a bar the bushings and balljoints all looked fine, but thats prolly due to the weight of the airbag
Balljoints didnt move
But i will take my laptop again today and deflate the bag

Only my left tire wears on the inside, even with my new wheels and tire the left shreds fast, i noticed within 3 days

Alignment is off, car wants to pull left
