X5 Bull Bar installed. Easy Bolt-on

I just installed the black Bull Bar I ordered. It was pretty simple. Took about an hour after all adjustments. Easy bolt-on.

Nice pics

Looks very nice. Is this an aftermarket bullbar since the OEM one bolts on the bumper?

BMW X5 01-10-2006 03:21 PM

is that oem or aftermarket

rayxi 01-10-2006 03:22 PM

Looks sharp! Funny sig (good). [edit] Oops, I thought the last picture (spy vs. spy) was your sig.

Yes, it is an aftermarket. I apologize for not writing that. It's a Tal & Hadas bar. 3" pipe.

I've had this X5 for just over 2 weeks and I keep ordering things for it! I also ordered the "empty" center console bin (thanks to this board for describing it and finding the part #), an OEM 6 CD changer from ebay, and a Cargo Carrier for the hitch on ebay as well. Rims will probably be next. This is fun!

Thanks again to all for the welcome messages, and I enjoy reading everyone's posts.
Don

NervX5, AWESOME avatar!!! Where'd you get it? Cliff Burton was the MAN  My favorite bass player and idol.

Like the bull bar on your car too

Ken,
That is awesome you knew the Cliff Burton Avatar! I found it on some Bass Gear website/message board, but I'm not sure which one. I totally enjoy driving the X5 around blasting ANESTHESIA for all to enjoy. I'm sure everyone here in New Jersey must appreciate it. If they don't, I can now push them out of the way with my new Bull Bar.

DrewX5 01-10-2006 04:20 PM

Great pictures and love the bull bar. Gives it a mean look!

I love the spy vs. spy analogy. Yes, we are those people that park way out in no wheres land and walk 5 miles to get to the front door of our office. It's worth it to avoid dings but really sucks when its raining or snowing out.
Lovely pictures....just wish I had my 20' staggered setup on and not my winter shoes.

Nice X5 Drew!

AutoXer 01-10-2006 07:42 PM

Nice, that one looks like it's thicker than the OEM one and have the curves to match the X5. Is it specially made for the X5?

ncx 01-10-2006 09:37 PM

Looks great!

DrewX5 01-10-2006 10:25 PM

Thanks TQ2K. If you ever want to trade for mine let me know. I would love to have your 4.8

Drew, I don't have a 4.8... It's an '04 4.4 and I love it! We should meet up during the Spring D.C. X5World gathering.

powers1 01-11-2006 07:01 AM

Nice work!Theres no better satisfaction than a mod well done.

DrewX5 01-11-2006 09:13 AM

Exactly, fooled the hell out of me! :bustingup
Mod well done. I need to get the 4.6 exhaust to make my transformation complete.
I would definately consider coming down to DC. If I can convince NervX5 to come down with me. Than we can really play spy vs. spy on the journey down. I just do not want to get rear ended by his bull bar. :wow:

Thanks. Yes, I think it is thicker then the OEM one that goes through the aero bumper. That looks like a 2" or 2.5". The one I got is 3". I think it looks very mean. The only slight downside, I think, is if you look closely at the pics you can see the brackets underneath. Makes it definitely look like a bolt-on. I had to paint the bolts with a light coat of black RustOleum paint. They were bright silver, obviously. Still have to paint the underneath ones as well. I'll do that after I re-tighten everything after a few days of driving. The bracket is very visable in the pic below.
This was apparently made for the X5 since the installation instructions actually said "2003 BMW X5 Bull Bar". Mine is a 2002, but I wasn't worried about that.

Powers1, nicely done. Never saw that thread of yours (I was MIA). And I love the aggressive treads on those fat Toyos.

Considering that man is the reason I play bass, it would be a little difficult not to notice one of the only men who had a mop of hair like that and a head on a swivel. I'm just sad I never got to see him live since I was too young.

Yeah, playing Anesthesia or any other Metallica song while driving just leads to bad bad things.... "Oops, I seem to be going 100. I'm sorry officer, but listen to this great jam!" I don't have a bullbar to push people out of the way either ;)

dzhoka 01-11-2006 02:08 PM

How much total came to ....( please answer if this question is sound proper to u)

I first saw Metallica in 1987 at Giants Stadium as a senior in high school. Just missed Cliff by 2 years. Cliff Burton, Geddy Lee, and Steve Harris were pretty much the reasons I started playing bass. Do you have a band link or anything like that?

Johnni,
I just emailed you a private message with the link since I'm not sure if it's allowed to post vendor website links on this board.
Good luck with it.

I used to play with these guys but don't anymore since I didn't relocate to Cali with them. I'd probably kill to be playing with them again.

And you missed him by 1 year ;) He died 9/26/86... I was in 5th grade and didn't find out about Metallica until 8th grade... heard Anesthesia and Whiplash and Puppets and said I HAVE to play bass.

You are right! I was thinking about the Puppets album. Thanks for the correction. The MySpace link was cool. Thanks. I'll play the songs when I get home. Can't play them at work while I rot in my cubicle. They didn't list a bass player. You must miss it. Start another band!

Here is my band's MySpace link:

Very cool... actually listening now. You should try hooking up with The UnheardOf since they often try to get back to the east coast to play shows. Mike and Jim (the singer and guitarist) are both originally from Philly, as am I, and that's when I played with them. Feels like forever ago. They don't list a bass player cause they literally just got a new one last week... I missed my shot :( Oh well... but yeah, you should check them out cause they're a great group of guys. FYI, I sent your band site an add request.

And to keep it on topic, I just noticed the spy vs spy shot.... very cool and funny.
