Grr, hit and Run

Go rear-ended today by some d-bag in an Audi. Looks like I'll need a new bumper.

Police can't trace the plate so far :(

On the bright side, I'm sore but okay he wrecked his front end pretty bad. X5 = tank

TerminatorX5 05-26-2014 10:45 PM

glad you are ok!!!

Best of Luck. Hope they get him soon or Karma will.

ProfessorX5 05-27-2014 09:26 AM

Thanks, guys. Well, this at least takes care of the bumper scratches and gouge from before. Hooray for a new bumper :P

Doru 05-27-2014 10:08 AM

So d-bags changed the car brand from BMW to Audi.........
On the bright side, good thing you're OK. Hopefully insurance will take care as it should of your car.
You should have taken a snapshot of lic plate with the phone, but I guess in those moments, it's quite hard to recollect and make a sharp decision....

Good luck with the repair.

ProfessorX5 05-27-2014 10:44 AM

Yeah, didn't occur to me to snap it... use the cell camera so little I don't think of it as a camera :P

Knowing Toronto, though, the cops might have found him but backed off because he's connected. Seen it happen when some rich guy beat up a buddy of mine.

Ah, well, he'll reap what he's sown.

I hate it when something like that happens. I would be checking every similar Audi for the next year and making the rounds of all the body shops in the area. Good that you are OK!

ProfessorX5 05-27-2014 12:30 PM

Hoping I didn't herniate any discs, back is giving some serious spasm action when standing up. Undaunted, however!

bcredliner 05-27-2014 01:04 PM

Sorry to hear that. Get to the doctor so you know for sure. If it something minor try the following, works great for me: Icy Hot Smart Relief Tens Therapy Starter Kit | Walgreens

First glad that you are ok! Good luck on locating a good body shop.

I have been into the same situation.. sharing the estimates (all OEM parts)..
The difference is the other driver insurance covered all the liability.

Note: Watch out for the estimates with LKQ Grade A - most of the time it is damaged. I'm glad the adjuster approved all BMW OEM.

(1) Rear muffler left
(1) Rear light in trunk lid, left
(1) Bumper trim panel complete kit (including (1) Covering left, (1) Covering Right , (1) Flap)

Yeah, so glad insurance is going to cover it and the rental car, plus any treatment for injuries.

The time to watch for any chance of LKQ parts being used during repairs is when you shop for insurance. If your policy has the LKQ clause, the insurance co can use them, regardless of the owners wishes for OE replacement parts.

jsoto 05-28-2014 11:23 AM

Thankfully, for body parts, as far as my experience, there are not alot of 3rd party parts...so it's generally OEM

lhordmclain 05-28-2014 01:06 PM

Learning by experience :)

I was fortunate the Certified BMW body shop fought to replace the damaged LKQ part (1st choice by liable insurance co) with an BMW OEM. The other driver insurance was very cooperative.

TO DO: Verify our insurance clause OEM versus LQK versus (Aftermarket CAPA "certified as good as OEM", Non-CAPA "copying part - STAY AWAY!")

and just in case we are not liable, let's hope the other drivers insurance will be cooperative and will support OEM :)

Yikes, sharp stabbing pain inside the knee and I freeze up with back pain if I've sat for a while. :( Gotta see the doc later today to see just how bad it is.

However, I just found out they caught the guy!

bcredliner 05-28-2014 05:27 PM

He in big trouble.
