brake reservoir cap size?
Hi,
I am going to make a pressure bleeder and I need to get the right cap size for the brake reservoir so that no air can escape via the the cap! "Does anyone know the size of the reservoir cap" or another make/model that has the same size cap/threads ? (ie: Ford galaxy. VW beetle etc?) Thanks very much guys Jaima. |
I come from the E39 (1998 528i) world and the cap is ATE type for E39.
I wrote a DIY for E39 brake bleeding using ATE Volvo Cap so I can bleed the brake using the air compressor: DIY: 1-man Hydraulic Bleeding Kit for those with Air Compressor! - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums It should be the same as E53, I will verify later when I have time. Edit: E53 or E39, same cap: http://www.xoutpost.com/images/artic...rakebleed.html |
Thanks very much for the reply!
I looked at/read you`re write up! "1 man Hydraulic Bleeding Kit for those with Air Compressor!" excellent, very detailed. I am going with the pressure bottle job as I have a spare bottle lying in the shed which has a pressure release valve along with a spare pressure gauge |
I used to have the spray bottle, I hated it because of clean up issues.
I already threw away the spray bottle. If you don't have an air compressor, get one because it can be used for multiple things: 1. Inflate car tires. 2. Air tools 3. Bleed brake (keep it below 15 psi) 4. Blow air out of laptop vents etc. etc. Back to brake bleeding business, if you follow the DIY link above, once the job is completed, there is basically nothing to clean up. |
