Three beeps...

I a getting three beeps once in a while and there is nothing displayed on the screen or cluster. What can that be?

Maybe. I will keep an eye on the clock.

We are at the North Pole here but it's not that cold now :)

As above... I've noticed mine beeps at X:59 every hour. Why would this be?

there is a setting that tells the car to beep on the hour - i forgot what it is called... you go into settings on the screen, and check off the NOTIFICATION... without the boardmonitor, there is an option too... it goes with a little symbol, looks like a dot with "broadcasted" half waves...

The MID and Nav have an HOUR MEMO setting that will produce 3 pips (beeps) approx 15 seconds before each hour.

This is more of a Euro thing where there is a traffic broadcast at the top of the hour...and this little reminder can be initiated so that the driver can prepare to turn to the broadcast.

You don't have to "wait" to see if the HOUR MEMO is turned on...you can look directly at your MID or Nav screen and see if the HOUR MEMO ICON is illuminated.

On the MID...it's the "sound wave" icon " *)))" to the far right of the MID's display...to the right of the TIME displayed in the image below:

The Nav monitor has a similar HOUR MEMO ICON that will be displayed if you have this feature activated. On the wide screen monitor...the icon is located in the blue band along the bottom center of the screen (in between the TIME and the DATE):

Here's the explanation from the owners manual:

BTW...this HOUR MEMO feature has been a BMW feature for decades...below is the feature mentioned in my 1991 735iL's owners manual: :D

Who knew?

That is what we all need, a chime telling you its time to turn on the radio for news. I wonder how that one came up for approval during the design build meetings. :dunno:

Since most US cities don't have a traffic update at the top of the hour that is broadcast across all radio stations...I've co-opted this feature over the decades as a gentle reminder of time management.

If I'm driving around doing errands...the simple "beep, beep, beep" reminds me that another hour has passed. Or if I'm on a long journey, the "beep, beep, beep" reminds me that I'm 1 hour closer to my final destination. Or if I'm on my way to work and I hear the "beep, beep, beep"...then I know that I've gotta sneak to my desk because I'm LATE to work. :) :eeps: :)
