Went for the estimate... will need a new left taillight, bumper, lower hatch, and dent work on the quarter panel.. possibly more work when the bumper comes off.... early estimate is $4000, might be more if there's suspension dmg.

Glad insurance has to cover it. Could have been worse.

Ouch! 4k + and it's not totaled?

$4Gs?!

If my kids were in their late teens/early 20s now vs mid 40s, I would urge them to skip the U and go apprentice in an auto body shop.

Remarkable cost, even if there is some hidden damage, etc.

Must have bumped up near the Total It ceiling...

Sorry. Story?

Sharing my version rear-end accident , Last Month.

Here are the details of my Body Repairs. It was updated to almost $3700-3800 (Trunk Lid Latch - Servo motor was valued 355 instead of 155). Zero out of pocket (the other driver insurance company covered 100%)

See my other thread -> http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-lid-lock.html

Be sure to check OEM versus LKQ versus aftermarket parts.
Please add to your research "Diminished value claim"

Yikes! As long as no one was injured that's all that really matters.

Mine was about $3300 in damage when I was rear ended by a Cavalier , 5 or 6 years ago now....it was about the same damage-wise. Doesn't take much to rack up a couple G's in damage nowadays.

Rear ended by a d-bag in an audi. Jerk hit and ran, but got caught.
Funny thing is I wasn't even mad at the guy till he left, because I knew he was distracted by the girl in the tight jeans walking on the sidewalk. :P

I've got injuries, but have been advised not to discuss them online. Really just want to get better and get the car fixed. :)

Sorry, I guess cause & effect suggests either the girl or tight jean manufacturer are really at fault. I see a 10 figure settlement in your future!

Wait, you don't live in the litigious U.S. nevermind.

Hope you feel better soon.

Glad you ok Professor but man i'm hearing a lot of hit and runs lately... similar thing happened to a guy in the VW forum i frequent as well. Some guy in a Touareg blew red light and clipped his jetta on the left rear spinning him couple of times. The Touareg driver took off and the jetta left rear wheel was busted so he couldn't chase him down.... here is the kicker, this was also in Canada (montreal i think)
