Carbon fibre ftw

Thanks to the neighborhood kid who pulled my roundel off the front, I sprung for some carbon fibre ones. Now I just have to fix the road rash. Here it is:

Prof, I'm with you on the road rash. When I rehabbed the headlights over the weekend, I noted rash on mine and added to the list. If not too bad, the 'doctor chip' [forget the name/website] you see advertised works quite well. Its too darn hot down here to do it til late September, though ........ roundel looks nice.

Unless your front end is extremely peppered, we gotta expect some front end rash on these vehicles with 10+ years on the road and such.

IMO, I wouldn't waste my time with Dr Color chip on every rock chip on the front end.

If you have a new or recently painted X, sure, maybe on the first 10 chips or so.

But on our front ends in my opinion just keep it polished, the peppering is sort of a "battle scar over the years", if you have the $$$$ just get the front end resprayed and keep a clear bra on the new paint.

Professor you have minimal rash compared to some X's I've seen I'd be proud of your front end lol!

LOL.. i mainly just want to nip the rust in the bud... will prob go with a bra once I take care of that and two small dings in the hood... but not doing anything for a while, doc's orders.

Roundel suits the black car.

Dr Colorchip and rock blocker film from Lamin-X over the top kept the fragile paint on my G35 Nismo bumper pristine.

If I was buying a new car, or had just paid to have a car resprayed I would definitely invest in the Lamin-X....

I've used Dr. Color Chip and have been very satisfied. Very easy to do a large number of the small stuff in one quick pass.

Carbon fibre looks great on the door posts ext as well. I'm still thinking about doing it.

Check my album, I have the CF door posts. Bought them in 2002 from BMW. Still look fine. No longer offered. There are better ones out there anyway. Mine are CF look made of vinyl. I will be replacing them soon. I have been looking at a set from Bimmian since I have a Fathers Day gift certificate.

I've used Dr.ColorChip on my previous e46 and nothing but compliments. Specially on small rock chips by front grill and front portion of fenders.
