My new to me e53. 2000 X5
 

Hey guys. I picked up a 2000 X5 with premium package a couple of weeks ago. It was advertised as having an oil leak and had a low price, so I bought it. Turns out it was leaking from the rear main, and the transmission jolts and shifts hard then goes into trans failsafe mode.

Got her some new shoes...

And pulled the trans to rebuild it and replace rear main seal.

thar's a big job......................good luck.

The rims were scratched up when I got them. I changed the tires on a coats tire changer in my shop. The fronts had a huge seat on the rim for the tire and it was kind of a bitch to get them off, I ended up having to use 3 spoons.

I paid $3000

The rebuild kit for the trans will come in today, so hopefully this weekend I can tear into it and see why it is failing. If all goes well ill order the shim and hopefully be driving it again next weekend. Then it's time for me to make some mods. :thumbup:
