Navigation Screen not working!? Help
My 2002 Bmw X5 4.6is navigation screen is not working. It was working fine but recently it has gone black. I can see it sometimes flashing but still does not show anything. Everything still works except for the display. Any ways to fix? Let me know thanks :)

everything works except for the display. chances are the nav computer either gone south, or has chaffing wires somewhere...
go the left side of the trunk, where the nav computer is, have the car running, and stick your hand behind the nav computer, and try to wiggle wiggle the wires, without disconnecting them from the module. if you start getting flickering on the screen, something is wrong with the wires, you need to pull the nav comp out, unplug the cables and closely inspect them for loose, chaffing, bend, broken wires... keep us posted |
I checked the wires and they all seem fine. You think there may be another problem? thanks

Tell us more about the problem- when it started, how it started, was it cold turkey or slow happening? When does it flicker? Need more info...

It started one day when i turned on the car and the display was just blank. It flickers when i am driving. Everything else works perfect except for the display

Before the issue started...did you happen to disconnect power...like when installing a new battery or disconnecting the battery for other work?
I ask because if you have the MK3 Nav CPU...it is known to go into catastrophic failure if not allowed to power down prior to removing electrical power: http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/q...%20Battery.jpg |
Do you have the dvd or cd based unit?
