Front Wiper Arm Removal

Last weekend I attempted to remove the front wiper arms for a refresh. I was not able to do so. I removed the nut and did not get any further after that. I applied oil to the shaft and let it soak for a few hours. I put them in all sorts of positions while pulling and prying with no luck. I snagged a gear puller from work today and will most likely give that a try tomorrow, if it fits.

Any suggestions on how to remove the front wiper arms (not the blades) on an E53?

The nice thing about Gear Puller is that you can use it for many other jobs.

That's awesome:). Just can't justify it.

when I was doing body work we used slide hammers all the time they work perfect. there wasn`t a wiper arm I couldn`t get off. it comes with different attachments. all you need to use is the one that looks like a L .just put it under the wiper arm where the bolt is and voila its off, just have some control so the wiper arm doesn`t fly off and scratch the paint. you won`t need much force.

How about this? Can also be used to remove battery clamps.

Ok that's justifiable:). Last night I tried the gear puller and the damn tool is stripped! In the trash it went. I'll order the above. Thanks Upallnight.

I just pulled mine off by hand. What am I missing here? I needed to flex the wiper down to get it to square up in the hole
