Well.. The actual game was a beautiful day!

I'm now in Des Moines, IA. I have stopped in the visit with the guys who sold my the X5 over three years ago (and 40k miles)!

I'm on the kind of schedule that allows for your curiosity to get the best of you. The sign said scenic view, and I thought... In Iowa? :dunno:

So I pulled off and was treated to an abandoned post and this well banked circular road. I must have ran it six times. I left a tiiiiiny bit of evidence behind...:p:

Oh.. And for anyone counting, today ticked over my first 1,000 miles.

Nice pics, are you just driving around or actually taking a route and stopping along to somewhere?

If you take the northern route to get to the west coast like seattle, drive through ND and Montana. Never thought id go there in my life till i drove thru them its pretty cool.

Well, I am headed to Seattle eventually. I need to be at work next Thursday. :( But, I am taking plenty of time to get there.

The southern route I am on (from Chicago, my first stop) takes me to meet my oldest friend's son. He's 18mos old now. I don't get to Colorado like I used to. I will stay there till the weekend starts. Probably take a mountain pass or two to Salt Lake City for a night. From there, I will meander up to Seattle.

After working in Seattle for two weeks, my wife and daughter will meet me there. We'll leave after visiting my sister who moved there last month. We stop in Glacier Nat'l, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Then, we're stopping by to see the monuments, Crazy Horse and Rushmore.

Then, it's a marathon back home for school to start up again on Aug 11.

I'll do my best. What part of town are you in?

Great day today until 20mins from my destination. Hail. Lots of it. Dont know the damage or if any. I found an overpass as quickly as I could.

But enough bad news.... Not much going on at hour 7. Might as well do something to pass the time...:D

The date. :D I don't like to add any more information to this kind of hooliganary (new word?) than is needed.

I did get stopped by the Nebraska State Police. Great guy. He gave me a warning for 88 in a 65.

Passing time at 130mph is a fantastic way of making sure your engine oil reaches proper operating temperature. It can also identify previously undiscovered wheel and tire vibrations, not to mention wind leaks around door and window seals. Well done!

I also had a great experience with a Nebraska state trooper who stopped me as I entered on the Eastern border at 80mph and indicated I was sure to contribute to their state funds if I continued to drive like that on my way to Denver. I thanked him for his generous warning message. ;)
