is there an aftermarket software to reflash the ECU.???using your laptop or a snap on scanner. bmw has learn the hard way that sometimes because a code comes on that replacing all the parts related to that specific code doesn't fix it in this case the famous code p2096 which crosses over to bmw code 235
the only real fix is to reflashing the ECU fixes the problem. this info come from bmw tech in DARIEN CT. where i deliver oil to them.

by the way they did the same thing when customers complain about vibration while car was in drive or reverse while stop. only in park the engine was smooth as a whittle their fix was to reflash the ECU to raise the RPM to fix that problem but then the loop hole was close and after certain year model they couldn't do the fix and told customers that was one of the behavior of the x5
