e53 2004 tyre pressure warning - urgent! driving today 1400 miles!

Hi everyone

Today I should drive 1400 mile and guess what - the red tyre pressure warning poped up! Tyres look OK.I 've tried the reset (holding it for 10 sec - no joy).

Can someone tell me where is the module/fuse located please. Tried RealOEM but cannot find it there.

I've go INPA. Will do another scan. First time it came with no communication with system.

Thanks

Have you manually checked all pressures first?
(actually, scrap that, it should reset i think, then fail again once rolling, if you have a pressure difference)

definitely manually check the pressures. "Looking okay" means nothing. A tyre can be 15 to 20 PSI down, and not look visually any different.

I know with my 20" rims and runflats, it can be dead flat and it looks no different, unless you really look closely.

Agreed. I mean really, surely that would be the first thing you'd check i.e. it's given you a tyre pressure warning so go check the tyre pressures !!!

Yeah, but he has said it would not reset, even if your wheel is off the car, it will reset!
Not sure if all E53's are the same, but the '06 has no transmitters in the valve, it works off your ABS.
Hence, it should reset, and it will not show a Red LED until you travel next.

Forgot to mentioned car was loaded for the trip. I've checked the preassure and seems to be a bit out. Put a bit in and reset all OK so far. Thanks

I get it towing a trailer, heavy bike trailer.... Fine when the trailer is off.

At hwy speeds, the system will reconize a 2 PSI difference between left right and front rear. Mine only does it after 1 hr driving at 70+ and i discovered the pressure difference. When cold the tires were within 1/2 a PSI of each other. After a hour on the road they increased beyond the tolerance range.

Bottom line: Measure your tires stone cold (after 12 hrs). Use a quality gauge not a pencil gauges that has been used as a prybar a few times. Confirm that your tires are at the PSI recomended.

Reset your tire sensor on the center console stack, by holding down until it blinks. Must be done on start up or key in the run position (Can someone confirm this proceedure?).

Sounds like the system did what it was supposed to do...and at a most opportune time...right before your long journey.
