Brake Bed In
I am picking up a new X5 as my current one has un-officially become a lemon. I was getting ready to install Brembo rotors and Axis pads and have read a lot about the install. This raises the question: Should the brakes be bed in be me or does this get done at the factory?

I've never heard of "the factory" doing the bedding in for you. Where are you having the work done? Perhaps the mechanic may bed them in for you, but personally, I'd prefer to do it myself. Check out Dave Zeckhausen's web site for excellent bedding instructions and be sure to give us your eval when it's all said & done! GL!

new cars being delievered to customers do not have their brakes bedded in. this naturally happens over time with normal driving. you bed in your brakes to get optimal performance right away and to protect the rotors from warpage...

i thought he said he was replacing his rotors with brembo rotors (they make them for oem fitment)... i think oem was zimmerman rotors... |
Sorry for the confusion. I am getting a new X-5 and didn't know if I would screw things up by bedding the brakes.
Thanks for the info. |
