ABS Relay Location

Hey guys,

I have spent two nights trying to find the ABS relay in my 2002 X5 4.4i

I have searched endlessly but keep finding e39 relay and fusebox diagrams.

I have my ABS module unplugged because when its plugged in it will run even when the car is off, I have sent the module off to have it checked and it was fine, the guy who checked it recommend that I try replace the relay as its common for them to get stuck on BMW's causing the pump to run.

Are you LHD or RHD (left hand or right hand drive)?

Sorry I forgot to mention, it's right hand drive.

Did you check the same location that you saw from the e39 DIYs? If the engine is the same (your 02 X5 4.4 = the same M62TU engine in the 1999-03 540i/iT)...both have the same engine...and 98% of stuff is in the same location. But you may be switched around a bit being RHD due to the steering column being located on the side where the E-box is located on the LHD vehicles.

Also, have you tried looking it up in the online BMW WDS (wire diagram system): WDS BMW Wiring Diagram System - Model Selection

I have checked E39 and the ABS fuse in in the engine bay fuse compartment next to the ECU, I have checked the X5 and they are a different layout.

I have even pulled out all the relays but the pump still runs so it cannot be one of the engine bay ones.

I have also just noticed that my rear brakes do not work :/
