Pics of my 2003 stick shift low miles X5 baby

Pics of my 2003 X5 titanium grey 5 speed manual transmission low miles baby, had only 45,060 miles when I got it. Interior is light grey leather with dark wood and mint condition as well. These are just pictures I took with my phone right after I received it from the shipper, it was transported from California, where it was a 1 owner car. Found it on the bmwusa.com website, had only been for sale 1 day. I meant to wash it and wax it and take better photos but can't find the charger to my ancient Leica digital camera so these phone camera pictures are all I have so here they are!

Awesome find, post up in the manual registry, low miles is a wonderful thing but be aware that many things on these vehicles will need to be looked at on an age-related basis as well.

For example, most of my front suspension bushings, control arms etc were pretty well shot when I bought my X in December 2011 with 59k miles. It has 74k now and I refreshed the whole front suspension last year, and so far this year have just done the CCV as well as the rear subframe bushings.

Best of luck with it, any mods planned?

Hey thanks, the car was well maintained and the dealer did a lot of preventative maintenance on it as well as new control arm bushings. I had the oil and filter changed using a nearby bmw dealer who was offering a value service deal cost me about $80. I just also had the tranny, diffs and transfer case fluids changed and the handbrake adjusted. Thinking about changing the belts as well but might wait a bit.

One thing I could use some advice on or help choosing is finding a roof mounted cargo box setup.

I have 3 dogs (pugs) so they weigh about 15 lbs each. I bought the cargoliner for that to keep them in the cargo area. Someone on this forum recommended the cargoliner.com setup so I bought it and it's good. Going to keep the dogs back there. Cost about $350 though so $$ but looks good and quality worksmanship, made in usa. Interior color matches nice etc.

Need recommendation if anyone has one for roof top cargo box as have a 1 year old baby so going to have extra cargo plus umbrella stroller etc to put in that cargo box. Looking at Yakima and Thule but not sure if one particular model is well suited to the X5.

I've got a BMW-branded Yakima rooftop ski box that my sister & BIL gave me after they sold their X5. It kinda looks like a photon torpedo from Star Trek, but works well enough. I've got a photo or two around of it; I'll see if I can find them. We've only used it for one trip so far, and it did bite into our fuel mileage a bit, probably 2-3 mpg, depending on speed. It's pretty big & heavy too -- definitely a two-man job to put on & take off -- and takes up some space to store it, which is in short supply in my garage. I'm trying to rig up something to store it up above the car when it's not in use, and be able to just lower it onto the roof when I need it. Dang garage door opener is in the way though, so I'm looking at replacing the old opener with a jackshaft opener; mounts on the wall next to the door and drives the shaft that the cables wrap on.
