MID pixel fix advice
 

I decided to finally make the pixel fix on my MID, using the akspeedo ribbon cable and their instructions. Once I got the LCD with ribbon cable attached out of the unit, I saw that the LCD glass on one end was cracked, and several circuits were therefore broken, obviously rendering the LCD useless.

My question for all of you who have made this repair is this: Should I just buy another LCD alone, since I still have the akspeedo ribbon cable, or should I get the LCD+ribbon cable combo? From what I've seen so far with searches on the net, the price difference between LCD alone and LCD+ribbon is not much.

Also, I assume I'll have no problem electrically with the car without the MID installed. Am I right?

Whats the price difference Gary? I'd probably get a spare cable and the LCD if I were you.

I sent my cluster out last year to a local guy who does MID/Cluster pixel repair on ebay, had my cluster fixed for $110 including new silver gauge rings. I don't trust my hands for delicate work like that.

I agree, I sent both my MID & cluster out shortly after getting my X. Well worth the under 300 I paid.
