The SVR is undoubtedly an impressive feat if it retains it's off-road heritage while pumping out performance figures close to that of a much more on-road oriented X5M. Whether or not it's faster is going to be a game of cat and mouse played by the manufactures of their high-performance suv's for years to come....So I could see the SVR being the fastest SUV for MY2015, but not for long.
They could make The SVR warp-capable and I still wouldn't get one....as is with the new sport styling, it's hideous. |
Fastest in which aspect? Acceleration or top speed? Or even better, faster around a given track? I'd suggest it's highly likely you would get 3 different winners fro those 2 tests.

SVR did the Nürburgring in 8 minutes and 14 seconds. That's pretty impressive for SUV. Matter of fact, any sports car. BMW F10 M5 was only 19 seconds faster.

Holden ute did the 'ring in 8m40s. And it's ostensibly a commercial load carrying vehicle.
In Aus, the SVR is mooted to be a ~$200,000 vehicle. The ute is a 50 grand truck here, based on a 4 door family car. I know it's not apples with apples, but my point is that what constitutes "fast" is very subjective. |
