"investing in a decent torque wrench"
Hi to all again, ok I am no pro when it comes to tinkering but would purchasing a Precision Torque Wrench High Range (21 - 105Nm) to work on the X5 be good or would buying the low range toque wrench be better for jobs n the x5 (5 - 25Nm)?

Alot of times you need both. I have an inch lbs one for smaller things and then a ft lbs.

ok thanks fella....

I have a 5-80 ft lbs wrench and a 10-150 ft lbs wrench.
Believe it or not both from harbor freight and work flawlessly. |
I have a ft-lb and an in-kb ones too.

I have all kinds of torque wrenches but here is the skinny.
1. For small bolts that needs < 10 ft-lb. I use the "one-finger" trick. Tug the ratchet with only 1 finger b/c the human finger is not strong enough for more than 10 lbs. Try a small dumb bell weighing 10 lbs, you will see that the index finger cannot lift it alone. Pinky finger is even less. I know this is not scientific but it works for me. 2. Re type: click vs dial. I have both but use only dial type. The click type sounds good, but if not calibrated properly can spell disaster. The dial type looks low tech but it is bullet-proof. |
