Battery replaced, but how to place the axial securing clip?
Hi there! I need help here. Recently I replaced the dead battery with a new Varta 100A battery. When I was installing the battery, I found that there was a so called 'Axial Securing Clip' (part number 07 14 9 158 226) that I did not know how I should place it. I guess that both the clip and the battery hold down metal are screwed with the long mounting screw. The problem is the clip should be placed underneath the battery hold down metal piece or above the metal piece? Thanks for help!

the clip is at the bottom, the battery hold-down is between

Ditto...the battery hold down should be placed over the top of the battery's "foot" then screwed down...this facilitates holding the battery in place...preventing it from bouncing upward...or moving fore/aft during aggressive driving:
(this is an image of the battery in an e39...but everyone of my BMWs have had the same set-up) |
