2B72 Variable Intake System, temperature warning threshold
 

Does anyone have any experience with this code? It does not trigger a check engine light. Im experiencing a rough acceleration on throttle, as soon as i release the throttle the vibration stops. This code popped up this morning, after clearing it the engine is running fine.

Some background, I was experiencing this same rough acceleration about 6 months ago. After pulling the codes it came up as misfire on multiple cylinders. I cleared the code out and the vehicle ran fine for a few months. No codes were popping up, but the rough accleration returned. I replaced the coil packs and spark plugs. Rough acceleration did not improve. Then a couple months later I pulled the code and "2EF4" Thermostat fault came up. I changed the thermostat and cleared the code. The engine was running fine for about a month and the rough acceleration returned, again with no codes present. This morning I get the "2B72". Not much info found when I searched, I cleared the code out for now, vehicle is running fine again.

I know on my chevy's they have a intake air temp sensor on them... wonder if our N62's do too?

Rough acceleration is coming back..

Been researching online and DISA keeps coming up. Could it be I'm having problems with that?

After searching for info for the last 20 minutes...I started seeing threads where you asked about this issue back in July/2014 (http://www.xoutpost.com/1002043-post8.html). Kind of wish you had made this fact a bit more pronounced that you had been searching for this issue for awhile...I assumed this was a new issue for you and not something you've already been asking/searching info for.

Good luck...and if you get a resolution...please post back with your outcome in a new thread so that anyone else that may have the same issue will have some recourse or path to follow as well as to find doing a search. :)

Here's some similar threads started by BMW owners with N62 engines that got the same code. And you may want to find out more about this BMW service bulletin (SIB 12 15 05). You may need to check with your local BMW dealership to have them print it out...of maybe a google search (type BMW SIB 12 15 05) to see if someone online has printed it out already:

V8's don't have DISA.
Dump the Peake and plug in the GT1, then start running some tests. Or INPA. It might point you in the right direction.

after driving for 2 weeks with the rough acceleration, "2DB4 interface MFL" popped up this afternoon in INPA. Anyone have any experience with this code?

symptoms are the same but different codes seem to be popping up. I tried to do some research and run some tests in DIS and INPA, nothing conclusive. Also not much information online. Again, i cleared the code out and the vehicle is running back to normal.

any help would be appreciated

I think it has to do with the radio system in our e53's

Hmm.... what's the date on your battery and how do the terminals look?

new battery last year, terminals are clean and snug

Bumping my old thread...

I took it in to my local Indy. He wasn’t able to find anything conclusive. He said there were no vacuum leaks and everything else looks fresh (spark plugs / coil packs). He said to run some fuel system cleaner to clean the fuel injectors, and that might help. He didn’t charge me anything for looking at it and told me to drive around for a while to see if it improves with the suggestions.

I ran fuel injector cleaner with no improvement. I replaced the fuel filter and it ran better for a couple months, I thought the problem was fixed. But the vibration issue has slowly started coming back.

I noticed it is worse in the morning when the engine is still cold. Once the engine warms up it improves a little, but the vibration is still there if I suddenly accelerate.

No codes present

Took it to another Indy. They checked the suspension, transmission, driveline, and differentials. Everything looked good. The only thing they noticed was some "NAPA" front axles. They said they do not recommend using any aftermarket parts and suspect that that is the vibration problem I am having on acceleration.
They quoted me $2400 to replace the front axles with OEM parts.. Anyone else think that is outrageous? They also said they cannot guarantee that replacing the axles will fix the problem that I am having.

ordered new axles, will replace them myself. I went with Brand new OEM axle shaft assembly from GKN Loebro. They go for about 300 each.hopefully that will fix the issue I am having.
