D/S seat belt slow to retract
Aloha Folks I have a 06 E53 3.0 with a seat belt issue.
Before I go and purschase a new one, just checking if there is a way to correct the slow to retract issue. Thanks |
Mine does it too, just something I've learned to live with. My rear center seat belt is stuck as well in the "tight against the seat" position
EDIT: Just google searched, try spraying some silicone spray on the retractor wheel, might help to lubricate it. |
Mine also, found this and I'm going to try it.
Seat Belt Tension, Slow to Retract, Sticking....A possible fix!!!! |
I think I'm going to both clean my seat belt and spray some silicone on the retractor wheel.
|
UPDATE
I washed my seat belt and that made a very noticeable improvement. |
Awesome Kristophe I am going to try it as well!

Hi All -
FWIW, please use a mild soap when cleaning your belts. What I do is I clip in in the buckle, then run some light TLC pre-spray and liberally run my carpet extractor off of it. Leave it still in the buckle, and let it dry in the sun. Seat Belts are a important safety item, so I'm cautious on chemicals when I clean them. |
I wouldn't use any heavy duty chemicals yes I agree. 10:1 apc is safe though from what I've found
|
Did my driver seat belt today and made a significant difference in how it retracted.
Used teaspoon of laundry detergent to a gallon of boiling water, and used a brush to get out the dirt and grime. |
So did you guys remove the seatbelt to clean it, or do it in-place? Interested because I have the slow retract as well.
