Water leaking in the passenger footwell
My 2001 e53 has water leaking into the passenger footwell when it rains hard. I checked, its not coming from door. Is there a possibility of water coming in from the engine compartment? How?

Test your front sunroof drains. Open the roof and slowly pour water in the corner. You should see it drain out under the car. Check my posts, as I've posted on this before.

Inspect the silicone between the windshield and body, I notice that on my their are cracks in the silicone.

Common problem. Either rubber drain tube got kinked by a-pillar cover or the rubber tube got disconnected by the lower part of the a-pillar near dash.

Thank you all, I will check them. |
Eugene,
Like the others said, it is most likely the sunroof drain. I have the same issue in my driver side footwell. I tested it by pouring water down through. I have the disconnected drain tube issue I believe. I actually have yet to fix it since it hasn't been a HUGE issue since I figured it out. Although, "Poor Man's Fix" until you get a day off to fix it. Park with the nose of your X higher than the back. This way it'll drain out the back. Seems simple, but it works for me. Anyway, best of luck! |

Thanks, It's been raining daily here and our street where i park is relatively flat, so I can't park nose up. I plan to remove the A pillar panel cover this weekend to check if i punctured the hose. Hope you can fix your problem soon too. |
Best of luck Eugene.
I think I've ran across a thread or two with pics and maybe a walk through. That being said, if you wouldn't mind posting picks of your own for us (me). Also, maybe the reason I've been puting it off is apprehensiveness in dealing with or around the air bag. Let me know what, if anything, you did for it. Maybe I'll brave the procedure sometime soon too. |
Lanomode,
What makes me wonder is that while sits still been raining, there is no water on the passenger area. I haven't done anything yet. I really have to check a A pillar this weekend. |
