Question- 4.6is transmission
What are the differences between the 4.6is and 4.4i transmissions? Can I installed a 4.4i tranny into my 4.6is.
|
4.6 variant was designed to handle higher power (torque converter change).

Thanks! I'm trying avoid an expensive rebuild and used 4.4i variants are available.

In addition to the larger torque converter, the 4.6is transmission has an extra clutch plate in the D-brake (i.e. 5 rather than 4) to increase its torque capacity and its upper valve block has different KV-B (55.080) & KV-E (55.140) clutch valves.

Got it! Will rebuild. Thanks!!

Is there a difference between a facelift 4.4 and 4.8 trans?
|
The torque converters are certainly different. The 6HP26X for the 4.4 (24007533910) uses the L93 converter and the 4.8 transmission (24007530100) uses the D82. Not sure what other differences there are (if any) I'm afraid.
