X6 style 259 on my 4.8is - need advice asap
 

Hi guys I found some X6 wheels style 259 in really good condition with brand new all season tires on them (ok for upcoming winter) .

I was thinking to throw them on my 4.8 and save the 168's for the summer since the diamaris are almost brand new.

Question 1: Is it okay to run the fronts with hubcentric rings?dont want problems down the road.If yes, metal is best right?ECS? Thx
Rears will fit no problem(72.56 mm)
Fronts not really (74.1 mm)- need rings

Question 2: The X6 wheels dont come with the TPMS sensors..will I be able to use the ones on my wheels or will I be better off getting new ones?

Question 3: On a 11" wheel, is a 325 tire better suited or 315 just fine?

Question 4: Below is the comparisson between the offsets.How will it affect my setup?I have 30 mm spacers in the rear.None on the front.

Offset calculator says the rears will retract 1mm while the fronts will extend 11 mm .but keep in mind that the new ones are a little wider even though the same tire size as mine.
With the spacers I should be the same in the rear and stick out 11mm more in the front am I correct?

Genuine Style 259's with virtually brand new Tyres

Style 259s have 74.1 mm hub size for front and rear. So you need hub-centric rings on all wheels. And all X6 came with TPS sensors. None of the E53 came with TPS sensors. E53 use ABS sensor to monitor wheel rotation the measure tire pressure. I prefer plastic rings over metal rings. They have tighter fit but at the same time, I've seen many plastic rings that don't fit due to clips, etc. so you need to cut them off with Dremel cut-off wheel.

I just installed style 215 wheels on my 2009 X6 and decided to give my style 258's as hand-me-downs to my 2001 X5. The only requirement was to install the hub centric rings (purchased at Discount tire for $5/for set of 4) on the fronts as the X6 has 74.1mm bore on the front wheels and the X5 requires 72.5mm (rears don't require the hub centric rings as they are 72.5mm). I was initially worried about the offset difference on the rears but after installing think it is a perfect. I would recommend installing them to see how everything fits/looks and go from there. To do a test install as to determine how it looks you do not need to install the hub centric rings on the fronts but would not recommend driving any distance/speed without them.

Will have to put them on the car.a tire shop will have no problem doing it in less than 10 min.it should look pretty good for my winter setup(winter in Seattle really means unending days of rain)

Get the hub rings off of ebay it's like $5 for plastic or $15 for metal nothing special

Strange. I picked up Style 212 from my neighbor off of his X6 to use as my winter set. Both front and rear were 74.1 mm and needed rings. And yes, these are genuine BMW wheels.

Very surprised to see TPMS in E53 from the link you provided. There isn't even a support to test module for E53. Anyways, since the ones mentioned in thread has metal valve stems, it should be easily identifiable from your wheels.

Might get them from discount tire if they have them so I don't have to deal with shipping .

Maybe it was a thing for Europe e53's only? Don't know...
So if mine don't have the metal valve stem then no tpms right?
That's even better cuz these x6 wheels don't come with tpms so it should be a straight fit on my car with no check tire pressure message ; owner used them for another set of wheels or sold them perhaps ..

Most likely but you can get TPMS sensors with rubber valve stem. My Acura MDX has TPMS sensor with rubber valve stem. If you have TPMS sensor in the new wheels and putting them on none-TPMS car, that shouldn't make any difference since the sensor won't be used.
