Battery replacement questio!n!
My 01 4.4 battery is getting weak, time for a replacement.
I have 2 Questions: 1. I have a brand new AUDI battery that says on the top 12V 380A 80Ah. Will this be suitable for the X5? 2. If not, I guess I have to get one from BMW. Howmuch am I looking at?(sorry dealer is closed right now) THanks! |
Don't know if the Audi battery will work or not, probably not. But you don't need to buy it from the dealer. They will charge around US $300, but can get same battery for much lower, around $100 or less. Check out this thread:

you guys need to stop passing your viruses to me.
Car wouldn't start this morning and battery won't take a charge. It's a 2003 4.4... dealer wants $350 to replace. Closest Batteries Plus is 70 miles away in Lancaster, PA... I'm in Philly. Anyone have any other alternatives? The x5world article at http://www.xoutpost.com/showarticle-25.html, lists a Douglas 49... but I cannot find this battery anywhere in my calls... they tell me, "yea, I got a 49 series battery... it should fit" - 'should' doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. Anyone tried the Duralast in that article? Thanks cjett |
Go to Autozone.. I believe the cost is $119 (in CA)

I bought one at Autozone, I think about $75 and they installed it for free.

Most any autoparts store should have the right battery. FWIW, I got a battery for my X5 at Pepboys.
