DIS PROGMAN without virtual...Where ??

Hi all,
I purchased a Dell D630 32 bit Windows XP PRO laptop so as not to
bother with virtual machine!
Any download that I found for for DIS PROGMAN had all been setup
to run on a virtual machine which defeats the purpose of the older
laptop :(
Does anyone know where I can download the above for a standard
setup 32 bit XP system ie not virtual ?? :dunno:

Thanks very much

To set up DIS without a virtual machine, i believe you had to get the a laptop with the same exact settings as the virtual machine. What the VM does is perfectly mimick the hardware which the software was designed to use. Just set it up in a vm very easy and you can use your better laptop if you have one for it as well.

DIS is also a Unix based product and that is why it has to be run under VM. The XP laptop/VM Host was the only compatible option at the time to run the Unix VM (as per 4.8isX5 states too).

These days, you can use Windows 7 and 8 (both 32bit and 64bit.. I do with DIS) and it works 100% the same as running it on XP (under a VM environment)

Thanks for the replies guys!
As I intended the older laptop for BMW software only
machine I will install VM on it too!

Thanks again

I have DIS installed in my Windows 8.1 x64 Lenovo Thinkpad. Also secretly installed it in my wife's Windows Surface pro 3 tablet. DIS runs very fast on both machines- doesn't feel like it's running on a VM platform. The VMware is version 10.

You can run Unix on PC but I think the problem is how interface devices connect to the software since the software was designed as server to client operation. At the dealer, they use diagnostic head (USB OBII scanner) that connects directly to server and terminal to server by network. Reason why you must configure IPs for those devices. When you setup VM DIS, you will notice you must connect and run Diagnostic Head and client terminal to server by IP.
