Homelink garage door opener buttons

I have a garage, but no door opener as my track car or sleds are stored inside depending on the season. I stumbled across a thread where people were using the homelink garage door opener buttons in the X5s to activate lighting. So I picked up a few gadgets and made the buttons activate my exterior lights as well as my entrance lights. I thought I could get away with just the wall switch, but the X5 uses an older signal than what the new switches need (myQ or Security 2.0). I needed the repeater to make everything talk.

Cheesy, maybe - but I like it :). Let me know if you want more details. Setup was pretty straightforward.

Cheers.

I had some X10 switches already installed in my home, bought a X10 transceiver (plugs into house electrical receptacle with rabbit ear antenna) and remote (both cheap on Ebay). Taught the Homelink buttons to learn the X10 remote signals and turn on my outdoor lights while I turn up the driveway

certainly no offense to the Homelink system or the poster LVP, just another option.

Two different ways to get the same result. This is what I stumbled across. Good to have options for people wanting to make the buttons do something. Cheers.
