Just installed tonight. So worth the upgrade. Only have seen these at night so far but happy with the light output. Looks good to me.

Looks good.

I installed the same brand and one was burned out in 30 days. Be aware and let us know if yours have a different result.

How about a picture of the actual unit that was installed?

What wattage are those?

Stephan, thanks for the heads up. Were you able to get them replaced? I purchased my set through Stealth Auto.com

Brightest WeissLicht LED Halo Upgrade Kit For BMW X5 Series!

Above is the link. If you look at the 4 bulb types in the ad, it is the single LED unit on the right. A large aluminum body with a single diode. Claims it is up to 10 watts. I feel WeissLicht's claims about brightness are not too far off. However as I was driving home from work this evening when it was still light out and they are on the dim side. Do not expect them to be anything near what the current BMW halos look like. Unless you possibly replace the whole ring with a complete LED halo retrofit kit, nothing we do can come close. But at night, it does come through nicely.

Man those are expensive. Are these any better than the ones you get off of ebay?

kodomokid 09-17-2014 02:30 AM

Having no direct experience with Ebay Specials, I can not say. But having bought LED bulbs off of Ebay in the past for other applications, let's just say you are better off buying stuff from trusted brands rather than some suspect knock off product from certain parts of Asia. And this is being said by an Asian. I had a single PIAA LED wedge bulb in my Passat's Turbo gauge and that thing lasted for over 4 years. Never had to replace it.

I purchased these for my X5 and my M5

My Weisslicht bulbs from BAVAuto failed in 30 days and flickered on start. They provided a credit without any issues at all. I switched over to these based on the forum comments on the M5 Board. The replacement bulbs (above) have been installed for 9 months now without any issues. Look good and perform as sold.

I would run yours unless there is an issue.

Thanks for the tip. Housing looks exactly the same

Oh well. If mine don't work out then I will give those a shot. Interesting that it does not need the external resistor. Now I am second guessing the WeissLicht units.
