Hum when slightly turning at all speeds.

While driving the X5 2003 3.0 at all speeds I get a slight hum whether I turn right or left. It is much louder on the highway. At first I thought it was coming from the rear but (checked sub frame and rear control arm bushings, and no play) definitely coming from the front. While driving at highway speeds, nice and quiet while straight, minor movement of steering wheel left/right creates hum or throbbing sound, no shimmy of vibration. Don't really know where to start.
Wheel Bearing?
Thrust/Control arm bushings?

Anyone experience these symptoms?
Thanks

Check front wheel bearings. It is hard to precisely describe the characteristic noise, but it is distinctive. Sort of a ruh-ruh-ruh, varies with road speed, commonly associated with turning slightly which puts a side load on it. And they are known to fail.

Ok thanks for the reply, Ive been reading, and everything leans toward wheel bearing(s). Looks like a big job. Should I also replace the Hub or just the bearing?
Thanks

When mine went it was just within the new vehicle warranty. Pretty sure they just did the bearing.

This video should help give you an idea about what is involved. Warning through, contains mosquito violence.
