Vanos oil pipe diy?
 

I've been trying to find one to no avail. It's got a slow seep that I'd like to take care of before it gets worse... trying to see if there's a way to do with without taking of the intake manifold like some folks say to do.

I wrote a DIY for my 1998 528i OFH gasket and you can see it below:

It is much easier to replace the Vanos Oil Line when doing the OFH gasket.

I think I loosely followed this to do my E36.

If you move the PS reservoir out of the way and/or the expansion tank is it possible to get to it that way?

I feel your frustration. My "oil pipe" was seeping also early in my ownership and I attempted to R&R but despite moving the PSP reservoir it is just too far underneath the intake manifold where its attached to the OFH to access. I later discovered I also had a leaking OFHG so I changed both. It looks very possible to access underneath but then you'll need to remove the stiffening plate which would require purchase of new bolts/nuts for re installation. I wish there was an easier solution.

Hmm... with my small hands it might be accessible... I could duct tape it to the new one and on removal of the lower banjo bolt, pull and voila, the new one is 'threaded' into place. I'll have to look more closely

I too have slender arms and hands but my biggest challenge still was finding no position for the wrench to loosen. It could very well be doable with an assortment of the right tools and resolve. The torque spec is 26 ft lbs. so its on pretty tight. Conversely when the OFG bolts are removed you can at least turn and tilt the housing toward you to get to the bolt easily.
