Introduction

Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a new owner of a 2006 X5 3.0i, Black on Black. Purchased a little over a week ago, and it's in pretty good shape, but need a few things which is why I'm here. I found the insturctions to replace the nav screen on this site, which is phenomenal. I'll be doing that shortly.

I do have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I need to replace the "Pork Chops" on both the front driver and passenger side, but can't seem to find part numbers. I've been to realoem.com but can't seem to locate the correct diagram, and to be honest I'm not the most mechanically inclined person so I get lost looking at those drawings. I am hoping to fix that with this car, which is why i'm looking for help here.
Thanks in advance, and I'm looking forward to being a member of the community here!

Jason

It would be nice if I knew what you meant by the Pork Chops.

In my neck of the woods it is a slang that Portugeuse people call themselves lol

ha! I am looking for the plastic parts in the wheel well. They connect to the plastic undercarriage in the front. From what I can tell, they are typically held together with clips or screws, and many of mine have fallen out. so while driving this past weekend, this part hung down, hitting my tire. Looks like an easy enough fix, and I've read elsewhere that it is. Just looking for the right parts to order.

Porkchops usually refer to the lower covers below the foglights .They would attach to the front part of the inner fender liner and bumper cover .Its e36 lingo

and e39 - any e39 with an mSport front bumper will have busted porkchops and they cost a small fortune from BMW.

Looks to be this part you're after

51718402443 Cover, wheel housing, front left $93.43
51718402444 Cover, wheel housing, front right $93.43

Only if it's been driven by someone who parks by pulling foward until they hear a CRUNCH.

On the e39 yes....more so that they just sit moronically low under the car, a good 25mm lower than the front bar so coming in and out of driveways, speedhumps etc....they are always the first to go. Even better is that BMW puts the ambient air temp sensor in the same place, so that is just as likely to get damaged.

Anyway, back OT.

OP - maybe if you just get the clips you might be able to save your original part?

Thanks for the tips, and yes that does seem to be the part I am looking for. I believe I can save the passenger side with just some new clips, but the driver side is shredded and will need replaced. I am not sure how this was done. When I got it home, it looked like the tire had worn a hole thorugh the plastic. I'll search for those part numbers and hopefully will be able to fix soon. This site has been a great resource so far, and I'm looking forward to more good info. Thanks again!
