BEHR vs. BREMBO
 

....I need to do a rear brake job 50K... So I'm shopping around for some 'better' rotors....does anyone have any imput between Brembo vs. Behr? Also which is better slotted or drilled, I like the looks of the drilled of course but I heard it cuts down on the life of the rotor? Is this true? I also like the painted hubs of the Behr and they're also slotted and drilled, together. But I dont want to put and inferior part rotors on my X, if they truly are inferior.

I will be using Axxis Ulti. Delux Pads.

Since I'll have the wheels off I would like to help out the apparence of my calipers..those lil' guys are U-G-L-Y. Are my only 2 choices either paint, (which just makes me giggle--seems so "99 Honda Prelude-ish") and really expensive Brembo/Stoptech Calipers????

i know of baer brakes.. perhaps thats what you mean?

brembo is a tried and true rotor... can't go wrong with this.

the purpose of slotted and drilled rotors is to help vent gases created under braking from the pads (reduces heat). the thing to watch out for with drilled rotors is tiny cracks from the holes...anything 5mm long or if you can dig it with your finger nails, its time to replace. slotted rotors handle the same purpose much better then drilled.

either way, for street use, a drilled rotor looks fantastic...

edit: forgot about your last question.. rusted calipers..
you can paint them with simple high temp (1500+ degree) spray paint in black or silver to get that oem look back.. or you can get the epoxy stuff like G2...

Baer (www.baer.com) and Brembo make good rotors.

IMO I would NOT get a drilled or slotted rotor. They are for looks and decrease the longevity of a rotor. They look great, but that is all.

Get a std. Bear or Brembo and have it zinc coated at most.

Have the calipers painted. Very easy, very cheap and if done correctly, looks great. You can also take off the calipers and have them broken down and powdercoated. :)

Stoptechs are a GREAT alternative to Brembo.
