Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lurking for a couple of months and just picked up a 4.6is. It's on its way from Idaho out here to Illinois. Hopefully, I can find a transporter to get it over here within the next week! Don't have any photos of it yet, but it's the cleanest 4.6is I've been able to find in the country and for a killer price!

I just moved out to the Chicago area a couple of months ago from California. I bought the X5 in hopes of preserving the pristine underbody on my M3 in the winter months. The X5 will also double as a tow vehicle for track days

M3 at Pikes Peak. Not much done to this car... just a few cosmetic items, JRZ coilovers, and recently refreshed every balljoint/bushing/mount with some track oriented parts.

Subd for pics of the rare beast that is 4.6iS

Took delivery of the car today. Transport guys got it over in just 3 days, so I was pretty satisfied with that. The car had a bunch of mud and dirt caked on to it. Pretty sure the PO took it for a quick spin in the mud just for shits and giggles. I didn't bother taking any pics since it was so dirty.

The car has a pretty fat valve cover gasket leak, but that will be taken care of shortly. Of course, first I need to figure out how to open the hood since the passenger side pin is seized. The ABS/DSC/Brake light also came on right after it was unloaded from the truck and gave me a fright. No sure what that was about (I'll give it a scan when I have some time tomorrow), but I imagine possibly the steering angle sensor was wigging out since the steering guibo/u-joint was replaced right before the car went on the transport truck.

It was all a bit disheartening at first, but the issues aren't major and nothing I haven't run into before with my previous BMWs.

Gave it a quick wash as soon as I got home from work, but it got too dark to take any decent pictures.

I'm gonna swap in the GROM Bluetooth audio unit from my M3 tomorrow morning. I tried to do it earlier but popped the inline fuse. Turns out there are two identical plugs in the trunk to power the unit... I chose the wrong one and saw a spark at the connector when I went to plug it in.. Go figure.

Just a bit of a teaser:

I'm pretty sure your trifecta is an abs module needing repair which can be fixed for 100 bucks. Good luck with it

I'm hoping it's not going to be an intermittent issue. Gonna scan it with INPA tomorrow and see what kinda faults show up.

The module may show false wheel speed sensor faults. Either way more pics of the 4.6 are needed! Can't believe the previous owner let the car get on the truck with mud on it. My triumph was spotless when I took delivery off the truck

It's probably not the cleanest example cosmetically on the exterior, but the interior is the best 91k mile interior I've ever owned. There are some dead pixels on the nav unit that I'm not too thrilled about, but I don't think I'm going to leave it on all the time anyway. The cluster display was recently R&R'd which I am pretty happy about.

I'll definitely get some pics once there's some sun out. Of course, it drizzled within 2 hours of me washing the car...

Sub'd for pics... I do love me some IS pics!!. Please tell me it's estoril blue, they go oh so fast!! :D:D. Welcome to the club...

Didn't get around to doing the wheels last night, but here she is. Not Estoril unfortunately, but Sapphire Black Metallic is one of my favorite colors. I sold an S54 M Coupe earlier this year in the same color, so it feels kinda fitting that this is now in the stable. The E30 belongs to my girlfriend--a '90 325is.

It was a tough decision after 5 years of ownership. I broke even on the price after putting 30k miles and 20+ track days on it, so it wasn't a complete tragedy. It was a track car and there is a very limited market for balls to the wall track cars :p:

Looks like it needs some bodywork on that driver side rear door.

It's a little wavy, but there doesn't seem to be any paint damage. I'm hoping that it's something that PDR would be able to take care of, but I'm probably going to wait until after the winter to get that done.

I drove it to get lunch today. The torque and sound are addictive. Struggling to manage double-digit MPGs right now :bustingup

That's definitely on my list of preventative maintenance. The parts don't look to be too expensive.

Welcome to the family of X5 owners.
