Auto box oil change
Hi to all I want to do a auto gearbox oil change,I have a 2005 30lt diesel, looking at the gearbox oil sump there's A big l Allen key? (On my 02 petrol ) the filler/level plug was on the side, but there's not one there on this model, any divide would be very helpfull

What type of auto bot do you have?
|
6 speed,I wil have a look tomorrow and find any make r numbers. The box sump is black and steel if this is any help
|
Most likely it's a ZF trans. You will need the special ATF from a dealer.

I have the fluid but not sure where to fill it,us the big Allen screw the filler plug and it there a special pump to fill it with, Cheers

The gearbox is most likely a 6HP26X.
That big allen key screw (size 17) is the filler hole. There is also a small allen key (size 5) near the big one that is the drain plug. You drain from the small plug (but also open the big one). Put the small one back in. Fill through the big hole with a tube or something that goes right up and into the sump. The big hole has a sort of plastic T-piece attached to it, so you fill until it reaches the bottom of the T-piece inside the pan, at which point it will start to overflow back out the big hole. Same fill procedure as the petrol ZF 6 speed, fill cold, run through gears, leave running, fill more until dripping, make sure temp is correct, put plug back in. Obviously check out the exact procedure if you are unsure. I have a great ZF pdf spare parts catalogue for this gearbox that includes an oil filling procedure and drawings of everything, fill/drain holes, even the fill T-piece on the big hole. It is too big to attach here (but only around 1Mb), so email me if you want a copy. :D |
Just Sent an email to you, thanks very much

If you are going to go through the trouble of changing the fluid you will want to drop the pan, change the filter and clean off the magnets too. check the mechtronic plug sleeve for leaks also... it's cheap and easy to change while your in there!
fluid choice does not have to be the ZF lifefluid. i used redline D4 with great results! |
I have the filter and will be changing it at the same time
