I also heard that the cables wear after that production date and the same things happen. I think since that TSB they improved the cables further. |
My 06 4.8is had the original door carrier until last winter when the driver's door froze up and broke at the normal pivot wear points. Good old cast aluminum old style carriers. The newer cable appears to have a "end cap" of a better material (possibly just newer?) to prevent water penetration.
Eight years appears to be a good life span. I would continue to recommend spraying a little WD-40 type product into the access hole to extend the life span, especially those of you up north. Some preventive effort is better than nothing. |
