Rear cup holder variants - are they interchangeable?
 

I am about to remove the center console and replace both front and rear cup holders which are both in bad shape. I got replacements from a local junkyard, and I just noticed that the one I got is not the same as the one I have at the moment. I guess at some point they changed the design. My current one extends out and down, supported by two links on each side. The new one comes straight out like a drawer. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable? I do have the complete assembly with the new one so I am hoping it will just drop in. It would suck to find out it doesn't fit after going through all the trouble to get the old one out. :(

I have done it, and if anyone wonders - yes, you can use either one.

Not mine, but here is the difference. Original one was of the following design (notice how the cup drawer slides out and down):

The replacement one I got looks like this (the cup drawer comes straight out, a better design in my opinion).

You can use either one, but you need to replace it along with the storage compartment below which is attached to it as those are different.
