Wiper question

Quick question.

I have the rain sensing wipers which seem to work fine. I always thought that if I put the wipers in low speed, that when you stop at a light, they slow down to intermittent until you go again. This happens in my 328 and 535, and I seem to recall it happening with the X5. Can anyone with similar vintage X5 confirm? If it is supposed to happen, mine isn't working :)

Thanks!

AFAIK, it does not throttle down when you idle...

My throttle down when I'm not moving and goes back to regular speed once the X is moving.

Yup!:). Not only are they rain sensitive but, they are speed sensitive too.

Weird. Wonder what would drive the throttle down that mine are not seeing? You guys are both in the 2000-2004 build era. Not sure if the 2004-2006 group is different. I could have sworn they throttled down though. We'll see if any with an 04-06 chime in. Thanks for the input so far though!

Actually let me pay more close attention ....on whether it throttles down when idle. Not as if I looked for it .

On my 1995 E34 Touring, the wipers also throttle down when you are stopped, but goes back to normal speed once the car was moving.

its an option you can turn on/off with coding. mine was turned ON by a coding company. It was turned off from factory for some strange reason.

This is odd. And not a highly talked about or posted item. Anyone with a 2004-2006 able to check? If it is supposed to work, maybe those that know how the system works can chime in? I'll have to test it a little more - I did have the rear wiper on, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Rear wiper....now that's funny, seeing as how it doesn't wipe the rear window but leaves a big spot where it doesn't wipe.
