which tires for snow ?yes staggered.
2002 x5 with 245 55 19 front and 285 55 19 rear any suggestion on all season staggs for northern NJ snow
|
You can't go wrong with Hakapalita (they invented snow tires). I would not run staggered but if you must the Haks are "All Weather". I run stock type 17" 255-55-17 front and back for winter. I don't know of any quality winter tires-mainly hard rubbered hockey paucks with some open tread. Also the low profile do not conform to road bumps as well as 55 profile-and then the biggy- the worst possible tire for snow is something really wide and hard like low profile.

Thanks probably go with Pirelli Scorpions

Blizzaks work the best in the snow on my X5.

The only "all seasons" I found for my staggered 19' are from Hancook...go to the website and look them up or call them. One thing to know is the same size summer tire is not as wide as the all seasons they make. At the time, 2 years ago I called ALL the tires manufactures and NONE of them made a staggered all season for a 19, only Hancook..plenty of 18's.
If I did it again I would have tried to get a size wider front and rear tire. Just so you know our 02's have a crappy all wheel drive system and works like Sh@t in the snow. In 04 they changed to Xdrive so don't expect much in the snow...my X slips and slides. The best thing to do for traction is get a pair on same size 18 inch and get a set of winter tires like Blizzacks or equivalent from BAV auto. The only problem is you can only use them under 50 degrees or the burn right up...that's why I went with All Seasons. |
