Which air suspension repair kit?

Did you guys try the eBay one?
BMW x5 E53 5 Series E39 Wabco Air Suspension Compressor Pump Repair Refurb Kit | eBay

Or should I stick with the ecs one?

Mine doesn't have any problem yet but just to be prepared if the pump fails.

I would go with the ECS Tuning one. The other is just a bunch of parts to repair your old pump while the ECS is a complete replacement pump.

There's a lot of people selling stuff on eBay for big bucks because people are cheap. My Aquos TV crapped out and I did a search on the internet. A guy on eBay was selling a repair kit for $30.00 to fix the problem. He didn't tell you what the component was but he inferred that 90% of the power supply was this component. I did a little bit more searching and found out that a zener diode which cost about a buck and a half at rack shack was the component. Brought a diode at rat shack and now I can watch the Hapless Bears on Monday Night Football tomorrow.

Thanks, so I guess if I get the ECS kit that includes a new air pump then no point getting a used compressor to rebuild and have it as spare. The job doesn't seem hard, how long does it take to get the compressor rebuilt?

I would get the Bagpipingandy repair kit.

That's only a repair for a worn piston ring, if the cylinder is bad or the actual motor is bad you will need to get the ECS Tuning one

^^^good call. Yes you are correct although in my experience the piston seal goes bad first unless it's REALLY burnt out

Curious if you went with the ECS kit and how long it took to install?

I'm getting a Self Leveling Suspension Inactive warning after a couple weeks of freezing temps / installing brand new front bags and think my relay or compressor have gone bust (30A fuse was fine).

Ricky Bobby 12-31-2014 07:13 PM

If you have EHCII that 30A fuse will never be an issue. The 2-axle system is run off a fused block, fuse 87 is just for the pump. If you recently replaced bags in the front bc they were leaking its most likely your compressor seal is worn from keeping them up while they were leaking. Follow my instructions in the other thread.

REviving an old thread:)

I was certain to buy this kit for my compressor but as I can see on detailed photos the selonoid valve and it's socket is different than what BMW used on X5 e53.

I wish to know if anyone have ever bought this set for BMW or is there a wabco repair kit available including the drier etc as this kit has.

Regards

I personally have been kicking around the idea of getting the seal / o-ring kit and keeping it around ( just in case ). Glad my pump is still going strong :)
