Old member, new 4.8is X5 introduction
First off, my old account is inaccessible for some odd reason, so I made a new one... guess i was inactive for too long
Finally updated the ride after nearly 10 years. My father always loved the E53, even more-so when the E70 and later F15 came out. He always would use this body as a comparison. I had given him peer pressure over the years to get a 4.8is for himself, and now it the time came after a great deal popped up locally. The new beast is a 2004 4.8is with only 51k miles! It is just downright clean, no word about it. Only mods on the car are 25mm rear spaces and style 87 wheels. We only plan to add a trunk mat (a small Xmas gift!), AUX, and maybe Sirus... If I can figure it out. Surprisingly it has Bluetooth, I had though this was only for 05's. Needless to say, this will be a garage queen for a while. I'm not sure what will happen to the old 4.4i, kinda torn between using it as a work truck or selling. Here are some pics after my mini-detail and on low height setting. http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa24e9858.jpg http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6abdfc18.jpg http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps9e676729.jpg http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps30b9bce4.jpg http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf8c4d8ad.jpg |
Nice find and low miles!!
Love it! What did you do with the style 168 wheels? If they're for sale and the price is right I want them:) |

Excellent find! I wish mine had that few miles.
|
Omg that is clean as hell and I love it! Low miles is a beautiful thing, I'm at 77k now and plan on keeping it low for a while
Amazing find for your pop I'm sure he loves it! |
Clean black is HAWWT!!! Love that...

I hope I never drive a 4.8. I may do something foolish and buy one.....
Yours is amazing - enjoy the low mileage. |

My only debate now is to whether to keep the rear spacers on or take them off during the winter since we use tire chains (Z style ones) and I fear any large suspension travel may hurt the flares. I would be all for leaving them on if I could get the speed limit of the suspension HIGH setting raised through coding. Is it possible? The manual says there is a 30mph limit. @94csi, ding ding ding! Yep. |
Was that the one listed on cars.com for like 19980? Looks great, I would have called the seller and tried to buy it if I was wasn't on the other side of the county...Love the wheels!
