Adding option code SA633 with PA Soft 1.4.0
 

I replaced my TCU with a 2005 model as per the BMW service advisory 84 14 05 and now it needs to be coded. I need to add SA633. I have the PA Soft Scanner 1.4.0. Can that be used to update the ZCS or do I need some other software?

TCU - as in SOS module? or, you installed a ULF, a bluetooth module? in either case, i am not sure that the E53 needs additional programming, as either of the modules are iBus clients that are automatically recognized on the bus...

are you experiencing any problems?

It's a Bluetooth Module Part# 84.10 6964114-02 from an 05 4.6is From all the docs I've seen, it has SOS and Bluetooth capability.

According to the BMW Service Bulletin 841304, the car needs to be coded for the Bluetooth option after swapping. Right now, the car doesn't see the module at all.

I'm curious about this too. I can pick up a BT module for trunk but since my x5 without nav has never had it can I actually get the Bluetooth working still?

No need to change the vo number. You plug it in, make sure you have the Bluetooth antenna connected as well and you should be good to go.
You need to program it in your vo only if for some reason you get the module reset/code with NCS. If you do that then it will remove the Bluetooth from it.
I have installed two modules on my two X5s. In one I did modify the vo but on the second one that didn't even have the antenna or mic installed I didn't modify the vo and it works as it should.
The quality for these TCUs is inferior comparing with the new aftermarket Bluetooth available but good enough I guess.

Well, that's a friggen mystery then.

The module is from an 05, and on the list of modules that have BT.

It came from eBay, seller says it was tested and working.. they've got good feedback, so I have no reason to doubt that the module is OK.

Fuses all look OK.
When I scan with PA Soft, the Telephone module doesn't show up.

As much as I hate to do it, I might end up having the dealer have a peek at it.

some TCU modules did not have BT even when BT info was printed on the label...

I have installed BT on '98 E39, 2002 and 2006 E53... I don't remember much about E39, it was gazillion years ago, but 2002 E53 needed a voice recognition dummy plug, but the 2006 did not need that dummy plug... maybe you need that dummy plug?

I added a bt to my x and it didn't need coding. I've also added it to 3 different 7's and never had to code.
To get it to work in my 01's though, I needed to have an ses module installed too. It would work without the ses, but the other side of a call couldn't hear me.

TCUs from 10/04 and newer have BT. Mine's from late 05.
I checked the loopback connector and it's there, as is the antenna.

Anyone have a wiring diagram? I suppose I could at least check the connector and make sure that there's power there. Just because the fuses look OK, doesn't mean that something else has gone awry.

Did you have SOS to start? Mid 2004 model? You should be able to swap modules and rock and roll. My 4/04 had sos but not working BT. I swapped to a newer module and it worked without any coding. That said, it was a huge pain in the ass to figure out how to use it and very confusing to pair, etc... But it works like a champ now.
