Mine vibrated under braking, replacing lower control arms cured it.

Let us know how you go once they're replaced.

I have bought a brand called SWAG - they're German made, supposed to be OEM quality. Time will tell!

That sounds like lower control arms. Everyone calls them different things - but I am referring to these (see pic) where as it sounds like you have replaced the tension struts aka radius arms (see second pic).

Bentley manual specifically refers to lower control arms as being cause for steering wheel shake when braking lightly at highway speed. I get this, despite the radius arms being replaced <2k ago so I know it must be lower control arms.

Here were mine when I replaced them, which solved my vibration problem.

They dont look bad at all visually, but since my Meyle HD tension strut bushings had only about 15k on them, I decided to do the wishbone assemblies first to try to solve the shakes.

Shaking gone now.

My e53 was shaking increasingly horrible under braking over a period of a year, until I threw out the front brake rotors and pads. With a new set installed no more shake. I balance spin only, I have a coats in the garage buy I only buy Micheline and maybe Dunlops, everything else requires too much weight and develops other nasty aging issues. Continentals sometimes are ok.

The Bridgestones I just took off the e70 were royal POS that wore unevenly and were noisy, not to mention the vast tracts of lead attached to the wheels....

I had the same problem. The mechanic said my front rotors we warped under extreme heat. Replaced it, now it's fine.

I experienced the same thing, so what we did was change out the entire front suspension, (thank you FCP Euro!) for the 10pc kit, with two front wheel bearings as well! completely eliminated the shaking under braking! and handles like a dream! these SAV's are a bit more complicated than your average chevy, and they handle ALOT better than the chevy! the down side is they are a bit more complicated to set up and require a bit more attention to detail, just think, when youre apexing a corner in your chevy, do you often find yourself thinking, hmmm wish i had the bimmer instead!
Happy new year!
good luck

:iagree: I just bought my wife an X5 for her birthday and she loves it ( i have been driving BMW's forever.) Whenever I drive it , I drive it as it should be driven. For example , I can exit the freeway at speeds never imagined in her old chrysler town and countrty!! She has had the truck for 3 weeks now abd still cant believe it . From what I have been reading the X5 needs the same attention as my E46 .. Suspension bushings, and cooling system ... I have also noticed alot of sunroof issues with the X5 ( i have a problem myself ) .. To the OP , sounds like the /lower control arms to me also . Not sure if this applies to the X5 or not , but have somebody ride next to you at 30 mph and stab the brakes. Have the person next to you look at the front wheel and see if it lunges back when you tep on the brake . sure sign of bad bushing or ball joint ..Good luck ..
