Google maps and bluetooth
Having used Google maps on my iPhone 4S over the previous years
I was satisfied that it did the job. However yesterday on my iPhone 6 it opened up a new way of doing things I was not aware of. Found the address I needed tapped directions and the iPhone as always spoke "proceed to the route" from the iPhone speaker. Then there was a pause, the radio was silenced and the next instructions came from the X5's audio system. When the instructions were done the radio came back on until the next instruction, and that process continued until i arrived at my destination. For me it was a surprise that the iPhone 6 and google maps was most likely using my Bluetooth to transmit the directions thru the X5 audio system wirelessly. Now why can't I play my music that way. Hmmmmm:dunno: |
For what it's worth, my Windows Phone does the same thing.

My android phone will mute the car audio system whenever I get a call on my GROM bluetooth, and return to the regular volume after the call is hung up.

(My GROM just skips when I hit bumps)

Audio streaming uses A2DP profile which is not implemented in the TCU or ULF we have in our BMWs. You should be able to find an app for Android or Windows (not sure for iPhone) that might let you stream through the HFP or HSP (hands-free/headset) profile but the quality would be bad.

Here you go:
BT mono BT Headset BT Mono for iPhone or you can use Blitzsafe as I do for A2DP. search this forum and you will find details. |
