I've had mine for a few months now. 02 4.6is just turned 91k miles. Besides a new battery, it's been great fun to drive. Have to keep the wife from trying to drive it too much lol

They're out there, most of the ones I see are bone stock, they're has never been a vast nor affordable mod base for the E53, that's why most are stock. For example the Dinan S3 supercharged mod cost over 10 grand, the S2 non-supercharged version wasn't much cheaper. I saw your other thread about how you miss your 4.6is. Do like I did, go test drive an E70 X5M and you'll forget all about the E53, can you say 555 horsepower...lol! I'll be getting one sometime this year, can't wait!

I couldn't justify the cost of S3 package. The S2 package was still pricey but it was several thousand dollars less and the mods were as safe as one could do with the warranty issues I would have had otherwise. It sure woke it up. I've gone well beyond that into the higher risk performance stuff in the last few years. It has kept the 4.6 love affair going strong.
I really like the new X5M and have driven 3 of the older ones, even one with the Dinan exhaust and tune. They are so different than a 4.6 I will be keeping mine if I go the X5M route. |
I have actually driven a couple of X5 M's at my dealership. They're very impressive but I still like the 4.6is a bit more. Call me crazy I know/

95k on a 03. Nav and added Grom USB and Bluetooth.
Just did the oil change and next week is going to be cooling system after I change the wiper switch. I work semi offshore so it's 7&7 and dive 400 miles each way. Just went to L'auberge, 261 mile each way and going 100 on I10 felt freakishly natural. Almost forgot the cruising altitude for any 5 is at 100 or so. After cooling will be the suspension then tires. Previous owner already did the timing guides just before my purchase so I'm feeling OK about that cost of repair. Maybe when the weather gets better soon, I'll do the Vanos. She's pretty stock and I like to keep her this way though I'm really thinning about going back to an E39 but an M5 this time than a modded up 540i/6 |

Still alive and well! An "every-other-daily-driver", with 149K miles. Replaced timing chain and guides, cooling system, some susp components, etc about 5k ago. Have a feeling transmisson/transfer case is next. Do love my IS tho, not sure what would have to happen to make me get rid of it..! :D Have a thermostat in the tool box waiting to be installed because of thermostat sticking intermittently...
