I gather there been exhaust work done or is what what a 4.8 sounds like when you get on it? I never see them on the road - although I did see one a couple weeks ago parked in a parking lot!

Or am I hearing the intake?

Both run different setups, but there is exhaust work. Dont know what motor would have an intake this loud thatd be interesting.. a cruise ship? hahah

Fine azz and well done set of pics! The vid is a hoot!
Those Xs sound like some hill climb M/Cs I have heard. :)

Ditto. I have a severe snow allergy after having grown up in Minneapolis and then South Eastern South Dakota.

Moar details on the exhausts please!

Mine is cats, X pipe, and straight pipe from the x pipe back, x pipe sits in place of resonator and no mufflers.

Other one is no cats, x-muffler, and eisenman race axle back i believe.

4.8isX5 01-28-2015 08:51 PM

Thanks! Its always a fun time

Enjoyed watching the video though I had to get an appointment with my shrink because of terrible flashbacks from living through 3 lifetimes of Michigan winters.

TiAgX5 01-29-2015 08:35 AM

I'm with Brian.

I had enough winter weather to last a few lifetimes.

Used to do that vid stuff in the Ocean County Mall parking lot in Toms River, NJ (late 80s), I had an Audi Coupe GT Quattro with full out studded snow tires.

Dover Township police would come out and attempt to ticket everyone involved, I was OK with that, the PD didn't have anything that could keep up with the Quattro on snow/ice! :nanana:

knucklebuster 01-29-2015 07:05 PM

I admire you guys for showing us 4.8is owner that you can beast on them and not worry about anything braking .As for me I drive in the slow lane

chivas 01-29-2015 08:10 PM

What kind of tires you running?

Sounds pretty good!

Joshdub 01-29-2015 11:02 PM

You guys are lucky. We have shit for snow. Im at 6k feet right now in a ski town and we have mostly rocks. I've only been able to drive the x5 in the snow once.

Only one drive in the snow...you should count your blessings and be thankful...lol!

4.8isX5 01-30-2015 01:25 AM

True that ^^^.

The snow is nice, when its fresh on the roads and fresh in a lot to play and drive around on.
After that its a pain in the ass, salt the hell out of the roads, car dirty as shit, etc.

These things are pretty damn good rust proofed from the factory compared to other cars i've seen which is a plus, i always have a wax or sealant on my paint or both, same with wheels. But once winter stops i powerwash the underbody. Its not all that fun haha

werd.. its been a pretty disappointing season so far.

i was at alpental a couple weekends ago. snow was decent on the upper mountain. As soon as i got to the bottom half, rocks and creeks.

kgbboris 01-30-2015 04:44 AM

yay weve got about 10mm of snow here in cold rainy England, wheres the foot of snow we need! ill probably be the only person who gets to work though as anything more than 10mm and everyone stays at home and nothing works in the uk

Joshdub 01-30-2015 12:41 PM

I bought the X5 for the snow! So it's been a downer. Plus I love driving in the snow. Gotta use those rally lessons for something.

I haven't been to Alpental yet, just Stevens. They had a shit ton of rocks. The 22" weekend helped but it wasn't enough. I'm at Bachelor right now and coverage is better, but rock hard snow pack.

4.8isX5 02-04-2015 03:33 AM

Thats a bummer you guys actually got the x's for snow and dont get much. You can have all of it and the salt with it. I just like it for the first day :)

Joshdub 02-04-2015 04:21 AM

I can see why you guys would hate it since they salt it over there. That would drive me absolutely insane. Luckily here they just throw down gravel if anything.

e28jay 02-04-2015 11:56 AM

Great video!! I saw it an Instagram and immediately called the kids over and told them to listen first. They didn't believe me when I said what car it was. Their reaction was priceless.

dykstra 02-06-2015 09:47 PM

Way cool!!!
